#2 oatmeal fragranced with lemon rind and cinnamon with banana slices, flax seeds and almonds + raspberries + fresh orange juice

not far from home. so many contrasts. just a few moments were enough to find peace after a storm.

we saw some beautiful birds and i regreted not having another lens with me. some other time.

com a cera de abelhas que trouxe do alentejo há umas semanas, aventurei-me num creme caseiro. cosmética natural, mezinhas caseiras. gosto. o processo é calmante e não deixa um peso na consciência em relação ao tipo de ingredientes que aplicamos na pele e que são tantas vezes prejudiciais à saúde, ao ambiente… não só o produto final, mas também a sua produção.

há infinitas combinações possíveis e cada pessoa responde de forma diferente, por isso não é uma ciência exacta. ainda assim, deixo aqui uma “receita” adaptada de uma outra que encontrei, para quem se quiser aventurar também. já experimentei nas mãos e a sensação é agradável.

84 ml azeite * 28 g cera de abelhas * 1 colher de chá de mel * 30 ml de água de rosas

:: derreter em banho maria a cera, juntamente com o azeite e o mel, sem deixar ferver.

:: apagar o lume e acrescentar lentamente a água de rosas, mexendo sempre.

:: retirar o recipiente (usei um frasco de vidro) de dentro de água e mexer vigorosamente até arrefecer. o creme vai solidificar um pouco, mas ao usar basta tirar uma pequena noz e o calor das mãos trata do resto.

with the beeswax i brought back from alentejo a few weeks ago, i tried my hand at a homemade hard lotion. natural cosmetics, home remedies… i love it. the process is calming and doesn’t leave you with a heavy conscience regarding the kind of ingredients we apply on our skin and that are so many times harmful for our health and for the environment… not only the final product, but all its making.

there are infinite combinations and each person reacts differently, so it’s not an exact science. still, i’m sharing a little “recipe” adapted from something i found, to whom ever wants to give it a go. i’ve already tried it on my hands (which are very dry this time of year) and it feels lovely.

84 ml olive oil * 28 g beeswax * 1 tsp honey * 30 ml rose water

:: melt the beeswax together with the olive oil in a baine marie, without letting it boil.

:: turn off the heat and gently add the rose water, stirring constantly.

:: remove the container (I used a glass jar) from the water and stir vigorously until the cream cools. It will solidify a bit, but when you use it, just grab a knob and the warmth from your hands will take care of the rest.
